Erich and Walter Polz have made the winery famous far beyond the borders of Austria in recent decades. In 2020, it was time to hand over the scepter to the next generation. Erich Polz Jr. will continue to run our traditional winery: "I am delighted to be able to take on this responsible task. The combination of respect for tradition and the creative possibility let me look confidently into the future." Brother Christoph Polz is still responsible for the cellar and the wines.
At the Kellerstöckl on the Grassnitzberg in southern Styria, you can taste and purchase the entire range of wines and sparkling wines. It embodies characteristics such as openness, competence, tradition, modern architecture and the passion of the Polz family. The Kellerstöckl team is looking forward to your visit!
Polz Winery. Now new since 1912.
Already in the 4th generation, today we work every day to bring our idea of excellence into the glass.
Erich Polz Jr. has been running the business since 2020 with the vision of guiding the fabulous potential and valuable know-how inherent in his family's long winemaking tradition into a fruitful, healthy future.
Erich's brother Christoph is responsible for cellar and vinification. With great confidence in each grape. Because our passion is called manual work. And our skills grow directly from our origins in southern Styria, our terroir.
We live sustainability. Whether it is gentle pruning, renunciation of insecticides and glyphosates or the conversion of our vineyards "to organic", which is already being implemented.
In the words of Erich Polz Jr.: "We have been learning every day for 109 years. We work with vital vines in healthy soils. We strive for balance and excellence in our wines. And we are now increasingly treading paths that are untrodden. After all, nothing is riskier than taking no chances."
