Styrian Wine Country Bike Tour
Cyclists can discover the wine country of Styria with its culinary specialities and cultural treasures in eight stages on the more than 400-kilometre cycling tour.
It is not just the cycling experience through the vineyards and eight wine roads in southern and eastern Styria that is inspiring on the bike tour. The eight leisurely stages and the two versions in the aras of the Southern Styria Nature Park/Schilcherland and Schilcherland/Home of the Lipizzaners invite you to discover the varied landscape, cultural treasures, culinary delicacies and Styrian personalities along the route. Besides wine with apples and pumpkin seed oil, depending on your interests you can experience two other Styrian delicacies, curative thermal waters and lots of culture along the Wine Country Styria Bike Tour.
The round trip has several entry points, but Leibnitz is recommended as a starting point, since it has a very good connection with public transport and you can also park right at the municipal outdoor pool to start your trip. Depending on your interests, along with the wine with apples and pumpkin seed oil, you can discover two other Styrian delicacies as well as healing thermal water and lots of culture along the Styrain Wine Country Bike Tour.
The stage from Bad Radkersburg to Leibnitz and further from Leibnitz to Deutschlandsberg leads, for example, through the home of the famous Styrian pumpkin seed oil, past pumpkin fields and pumpkin seed mills, such as the oil mill of Thomas Hartlieb, whose pumpkin seed oil has now become a gourmet ambassador of Styria.
Culture lovers will be rewarded with a rich cultural treasure of castles, palaces and pilgrimage churches as well as historical and modern architecture on the stages of Deutschlandberg - Lieboch, Lieboch - Graz and Graz - St. Ruprecht an der Raab.
The stage from St. Ruprecht an der Raab to Hartberg in turn leads directly through fruit-filled eastern Styria with its beautiful garden landscapes and the largest apple growing area in Austria. And on the way through thermal springs country from Hartberg to Loipersdorf and further from Loipersdorf to Bad Radkersburg, thermal springs, such as the Therme Rogner Bad Blumau, artfully designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, invite you to take an enjoyable wellness break in healthy thermal water.
Note: Our day stages are suggestions. You will see that so much beauty cannot be meticulously planned, and we will give you some tips that may mean a detour, but certainly will be worth seeing and experiencing.
