Route planner: Getting to South Styria

South Styria enjoys an excellent central location. It is only 39 km from the regional capital of Graz and 33 km from the Slovenian metropolis of Maribor - so you can enjoy big-city style as well as tranquil vineyards on your well-deserved break. South Styria is also an excellent destination for day trips. On hot summer days, it's easy to escape the hustle and bustle of the major towns and head out into the beauty of nature.  Whether by car, plane or train, there are plenty of ways to get to South Styria.

Arrival | Exit

Coming from Graz: take Pyrn Motorway A9 and use one of the following exits:

  • Wildon
  • Hengsberg
  • Lebring
  • Leibnitz
  • Vogau / Strass
     

Road tax
In Austria, you have to pay to use the autobahns and fast roads. A road tax therefore applies to all passenger vehicles and motorbikes. Please inform yourself about the fees and how to pay them before you arrive.

 

Section toll
In addition to road tax, drivers must also pay special 'section toll' charges on cost-intensive alpine crossings. You can pay the charge at the toll itself or in advance online.

Connection between Graz and South Styria

The S-Bahn Line 5 connects Graz with South Styria. It runs several times a day from Graz city (as well as from Graz airport) towards Bad-Radkersburg and back again. You can also embark or disembark in Wildon, Lebring, Kaindorf an der Sulm, Leibnitz, Ehrenhausen and Spielfeld-Straß on this line.
